WHAT CAUSES THE PRICE GAP IN LEATHER PRODUCTS?

OUR PRICES EXPLAINED

You’ve probably noticed that leather bags have quite a diverse range in price, we’ve been told that our bags are inexpensive from some, and expensive from others. Whichever side of the coin you are on, we are going to explain why our prices are what they are.

LEATHER SELECTION

When we get down to it, the biggest factor that comes into play when pricing a bag is the quality of the leather. Our bags are crafted with full-grain cow hide leather, which means that the hide is in its thickest form, which is the highest quality and highest durability. Most leathers that are in the cheaper price ranges are crafted from split grain leather, which means the hide was split into two pieces making two separate hides. They can then make double the amount of products, but the products will have less durability or will be coated with polyurethane or other plastic based coatings, taking away the natural aesthetics of leather which our bags encompass.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

In addition to keeping the leather in its full form, we also are highly selective about what hides we select. All of our leather is from food industry wastage. Along with advantage of saving this material from merely being discarded, the byproduct serves as a source for high quality hides. The cows of the food industry typically are healthier and have less irregularities than a hide you get from other suppliers, because of this they cost more but it’s worth it because the quality is consistently better.

"We took the path we found to be the best balance between mindful production, high quality, that allowed affordable prices"

CUTTING THE MIDDLE MAN

We chose initially to invest in our own production facilities so we could take a more direct to consumer approach in our logistics. We don’t deal with a middle man, it’s just us and our producers. We are actually on such close terms with our producers, we’ve been invited to not only their weddings, but also their families weddings. So what happens with the margin that the manufacturing agent (middle man) would normally take? We pass it on to you, along with donating part of our revenue to a school in Pakistan where we are funding education to children that wouldn’t otherwise have access.

All in all, the leather industry is a multifaceted system, from the highest quality to the lowest, and everything in between the possibilities are endless. We have taken the path we found the be the best balance between mindful production, high quality, that allowed affordable prices.
