OUR TOP 5 HACKS FOR LONG HAUL FLIGHTS

Are you planning a long-haul flight? We know that sitting on a plane for 14 hours isn't always comfortable, but if you love traveling, it's unavoidable! We've put together our top five tips for long-haul flights to make your next long-haul flight a little more bearable!

HACK #1: Hydrate

Airplanes have a humidity of around 10%, while our bodies are at around 65% capacity. That's why you always hear "hydrate, hydrate, hydrate" when flying! Even if you're sitting and seemingly inactive for most of the flight, being in this reduced humidity can be quite hard on your body.

Imagine a long-distance journey as if you were in the desert in the summer without water. If you don't drink enough water, your body will become dehydrated, you can get stomach cramps, increase your jet lag, and get severe headaches - none of which you want to bring with you on your vacation!

"AIRPLANES HAVE A HUMIDITY OF APPROXIMATELY 10%, WHILE OUR BODY IS APPROXIMATELY 65% ACTIVE."

HACK #2: SNACKS

We all know that plane food isn't the best unless you're flying first class. It's important to pack a small selection of snacks to keep your stomach happy throughout the flight. When it comes to choosing a snack, choose something unsalted. Our favorite is dried fruit with unsalted nuts!

HACK #3 THE SURVIVAL KIT

The holy trinity of airplane survival: earplugs, neck pillow and eye mask. Let's face it: sleeping on a flight is the best way to make the flight time fly by, but falling asleep on a plane is a difficult task for many. Trying to support the head with an armrest usually ends with the arm falling asleep and slipping off the armrest. There's nothing more frustrating when you finally fall asleep on the plane and the captain comes over the intercom to update you, or when the person sitting next to you opens the window shade and a beam of light shines directly into your eyes appears. These are unavoidable annoyances when flying, but if you are prepared, you will easily overcome these situations. Do yourself a favor and pack these three things, you will be grateful at the end of the flight.

HACK #4: ENTERTAINMENT

This one is important: entertainment! The best way to enjoy a long flight is to feel like you're transported off the plane into another world - and what can do that better than a good movie or a great book? Ideally, don't watch any films that might interest you in the week before the flight and instead download them onto your computer/Macbook or a tablet for the flight. With a few movies that you definitely want to watch, the flight will fly by. The same goes for good books: don't spend the nights before the flight immersed in a book that has caught your attention, but rather be patient and allow yourself to embark on a journey during the journey.

HACK #5: PACK SMART

The right luggage and the type of packing are the be-all and end-all on every trip. So far we have suggested that you bring the following: a water bottle, snacks and entertainment. The last thing you need is a change of clothes, in case of an emergency if your luggage gets lost! The last thing you need is to finally arrive at your destination and have to walk around for hours wearing what you wore on the plane.

Even though our Linwood Weekender Bag fits under the seat, we recommend placing it in the overhead compartments above the seat to make the most of the legroom. This makes all the difference on a long-haul flight.

Now that you know our tips for surviving your long-haul flights, we hope your next flight feels like a breeze! Do you have any other tips for long-haul flights or planned trips?
